Census to address deprivations of smaller provinces

Peshawar—Central General Secretary of ANP, Mian Iftikhar Hussain Tuesday highlighted the need of new census saying it would help addressing the long standing sense of deprivation of small federating units.
According to a statement issued by ANP secretariat, Mian Iftikhar who served as provincial information minister in ANP government said that the new census besides addressing the concerns and reservations of deprivation afflicted provinces would also forge unity among the nation.
He said that certain vested interests were trying to create hurdles in conducting new demographic survey adding it would serve nothing but adversely affect the national solidarity. He opined that conditions favorable for conducting census can be ensured by implementing of National Action Plan but the role of centre and provinces is of supreme importance on the subject matter.
Iftikhar said that demographic figures served as a base for making decisions and any delay in new survey would increase despondency among people of smaller provinces. He said that country was confronted with the hovering menace of militancy and it is the prime responsibility of every one to stem it.—APP
