CDA wakes up to its municipal duties ahead of local govt takeover

Islamabad—Waking up to its foremost duty of keeping the city clean and to strengthen the upcoming metropolitan corporation in delegating its municipal duties, Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to involve residents of Federal Capital in keeping and making city the clean and green.
In this regard, an awareness drive is being launched in the city that aims to engage local communities in different areas of services. This will not only help improve overall sanitary conditions of the city but also strengthen resident CDA coordination mechanism in addition to creating sense of ownership among the residents.
The campaign will be formally launched from the sector G-9/2 where local community particularly concerned citizen will be taken on board to further improve the cleanliness of the sector. The main theme behind this clean and green awareness campaign is to thoroughly clean the streets, green belts, markets and recreational places and to inculcate sense of participation and awareness among the residents for maintaining the cleanliness, disposing the litter in efficient manner.
CDA has taken consolidated steps to improve sanitary conditions of Islamabad and latest techniques have also been adopted in addition to traditional ways of cleanliness of city. In this regard, mechanical sweeping which was once limited to some major avenues, have now been carried out in 11 subsectors of Islamabad, which has made sanitation system of Islamabad more efficient. Furthermore all the skip lifters of the Sanitation Directorate have been made functional due to which complaints regarding cleanliness of the city have been decreased remarkably.
