CDA to repair low-paid govt employees’ accommodations

Islamabad—Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to constitute a special unit in Authority which will conduct a detailed survey of low paid government accommodations and submit its recommendations to carryout repair and maintenance of the government accommodation.
This was decided in a meeting Monday held at CDA headquarters which was chaired by the Chairman CDA, Maroof Afzal while Member Administration Amer Ali Ahmed, member Engineering Shahid Sohail and senior officers of relevant formations were also present during the meeting.
During the meeting Chairman CDA principally approved the constitution of special unit with immediate effect. The special units will be headed by the Deputy Director of the respective sector which will submit a comprehensive report regarding the conditions of government accommodations where low paid government officials are housed. The special unit will submit comprehensive report to Member Engineering and in the light of recommendations of special unit necessary repair and maintenance of low paid government accommodations will be carried out.
Chairman CDA, Maroof Afzal said that priority will be given to those residential accommodations where no repair and maintenance has been carried out since last 20 years. He directed the Member Engineering to ensure early completion of the survey so that long standing problem of low paid employees could be resolved. He directed the Finance Wing of the Authority to ensure smooth flow of funds in this regard. He said that initially available funds would be utilized, however, more funds will be allocated to complete this project on war footing basis.
The Chairman also directed the formations concerned to submit comprehensive and feasible plan for Islamabad Transport System within a week time. Under this plan, a state of the art transport system will be provided from the suburban areas to major roads particularly to the metro stations in Islamabad.
During the meeting Chairman CDA was briefed that planning of Islamabad Transport System is in final stages. He was informed that under this plan four (04) different routes are being proposed which will connect the areas like Tarnol, Nelor and Baharakahu etc with metro bus stations which will not only increase the utility of Metro Bus Service but will also facilitate the general public at large.
Chairman CDA Maroof Afzal directed the concerned formations of the Authority to submit feasible plan within a week time so that practical work on the Islamabad Transport Plan could be started at the earliest. He said that there is no proper transport system which could cater the needs of suburban areas of the Islamabad, however, this public welfare project will not only facilitate the residents of suburban areas but will also augment the transport needs of the city.
