CAS Kabaddi Championship from November 28

Islamabad—The Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Kabaddi Championship will roll into action from November 28 here at the Jinnah Stadium of the Pakistan Sports Complex.
This was stated by Group Captain Asghar Awan Director Sports Pakistan Air Force (PAF) here at a press conference held at Pakistan Sports Complex on Monday.
He said the championship would continue till December 3. “As many as 12 teams including PAF, Pakistan Army, Wapda, Railways, Sui Gas, Higher Education Commission (HEC), Police, Islamabad, Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will take part in the championship,” he said.
He said the 12 teams will be divided into four groups. “The top two teams from each group will compete against each other in the quarter finals round,” he said.
He said the winning team will be rewarded with a cash prize of Rs 400,000 while the runner-up team will receive a cash reward of Rs 200,000. “Third and fourth will receive Rs 75,000 each,” he said.
He said the best player of the championship (one raider & one defender) will be awarded Rs 25,000 each. He also said that this event will be held annually in future.
Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan Kabaddi Federation (PKF), Secretary, Muhammad Sarwar said this tournament will also serve as the base of selection of Pakistan’s National Kabaddi team. “In addition to this players will also be selected for the upcoming first ever Kabaddi League of Pakistan which will be held in 2017,” he said.—APP
