Capital to have recycling plant for respectful disposal of Holy Quran pages

Islamabad—The Federal Capital will soon have its first recycling plant to dispose of old pages of the Holy Quran in a respectable way.
“We’ve identified a suitable place for the plant in the outskirts of Islamabad near Haji camp and soon work will begin on it,” an official of the ministry told APP.
He said decision to this effect was taken during a recent a meeting chaired by Minister for Religious Affairs Muhammad Yousaf and representatives from Pakistan Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR).
It was decided to establish the recycling plant in view of a host of complaints received by the ministry about disrespect to pages of Holy Quran. Several complainants proposed to step up a recycling plant for the disposal of worn-out and damaged pages of the holy book. He said that the PC-I of the project is in process and it was being prepared with the help of the PCSIR.
After the establishment of the plant, special boxes would be installed in various areas of the Capital, asking the citizen to drop the holy pages there, he said.—APP
