2500 trees to be planted in lieu of 245
While clarifying news items published in different newspapers regarding cutting of trees due to construction of Atta-Turk Avenue, spokesman of the Capital Development Authority has clarified that. While carrying out development the Authority has made Islamabad a unique city by carrying out tree planting.
However, Islamabad is developed in accordance with a proper master plan for this purpose before initiating any project, effective and consolidated steps are taken to avoid Environmental Pollution. Spokesman told that construction of Atta-Turk Avenue is a part of original master plan. In order to reduce traffic burden on the road and to cope future traffic needs, project for dualization of Atta-Turk Avenue has been started.
For this purpose CDA has obtained NOC from Environmental Protection Agency. CDA has also planned to plant 2500 trees in lieu of 245 trees which were affected due to this project. Spokesman has further told that CDA is following a policy of planting trees in large number to compensate the number of trees affected by the mega projects.
