Lahore—The National Highways & Motorway Police (NH&MP) Central Zone have launched a campaign to check violations of overcharging and overloading in public service vehicle on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr.
DIG Mirza Faran Baig said this during a surprise checking of overcharging in buses on national highways near Thoker Niaz Baig, here on Saturday. The police returned the overcharged amount to passengers and imposed fine on violators.
Baig directed the patrolling officers to strictly enforce laws about overcharging and overloading. No overloaded public service vehicles should be allowed to ply on highways, he added.
The DIG directed the sector and beat commanders to personally supervise the patrolling officers and conduct meetings with transporter associations regarding overcharging and overloading. The coordination will also be made with the Reginal Transport Authority secretary for proper enforcement of traffic laws.
