Islamabad—Bureaucracy came under scathing criticism by MNAs including Capt Rtd Safdar, Najaf Siyal , Sarzameen Khan and others for not attending the suggestions of the elected representatives.
Rising on points of order, the elected representatives said that the top bureaucrats were neither listening their telephones nor giving time for meeting so that they could discuss the problems of the electorates. They said that the bureaucrats were not giving any importance to the elected houses and were not attending the sessions.
The MNAs demanded that all the senior bureaucrats in the past had been attending the sessions of the national assembly and the senate and they must be made to attend the sessions once a week.
They demanded that along with the promotion board , parliamentary committee to look into the promotion of officers of Grade-20 and 21 to next grade and give its recommendations to the Prime Minsiter. They also demanded that the law enabling the bureaucracy to write its own ACRs should be done away with.
Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab responding to the points said that a system is in place for the promotion of Grade-20 and 21 officers and final decision is taken by the Prime minister.
On insistence by Capt Rtd Safdar for the formation of the parliamentary committee, Deputy Speaker ruled that if the members wanted to change the system for the promotion of officers, they will have to bring an amending bill in the parliament.
