Chairman, Board of Secondary Education Karachi, Professor Dr. Saeeduddin has emphasized students to develop critical thinking among them instead of rataism (cramming) and road-learning : without clearing concepts and getting real knowledge behind topics.
He also advised teachers that during their lectures they must ensure, the students have got what they wanted to teach them. First, teachers themselves must be very clear about concepts and be efficient enough to build spirit among students for analytical and critical thinking. For this, teachers must give good time to their students for raising questions after listening to their lectures. Change of approach among teachers and students was needed.
“This is only problem with our education system. Otherwise, our students are more intelligent than those of Europe,” he remarked while addressing a ceremony which was organized by BSEK to award with Rs 25,000 cash prizes the students who secured A-one grades in matric annual examination-2017.
BSEK Chairman urged students to make the best use of their time and concentrate on their studies; especially in classes.
“Concentration on teachers’ lectures is must for better learning”, he asserted.
He said, despite many problems and flaws in the education system, we have made good progress on this account.
The Chairman noted that after technological revolution in the world, mainly that of information technology, it had become very easy for students to get any kind of information within seconds by just clicking on a button of a computer.
“Now, entire world is on your tips though internet,” he remarked.
Professor Dr. Saeeduddin emphasized on improving quality of education to grab modern technologies of the world. Otherwise, he continued, the nation would remain dependent on Europe and other advanced countries for technology.
On this occasion, BSEK Chairman briefed about the innovative steps taken by the board for better and credible examination system— from conducting papers to assessment of answer copies. Administrative and IT system had also been upgraded to ensure error-free issuance of marks sheets and certificates within short time.
At this graceful prize distribution ceremony, Chairman BSEK, Prof. Dr. Saeeduddin was the chief guest. Board’s Secretary, Director Research and Research Fellow Mehboob Ali Jafri assisted him in distribution of the prize cheques amongst 220 top scoring A-One graders invited there.
