Provincial Minister for Industries & Trade Mian Aslam Iqbal has said that all brick kilns in the province will be transferred on zigzag technology by December 31, 2020.
He was presiding over a meeting here at Alhamra on Saturday. Provincial Minister for Environment Protection Muhammad Rizwan, Secretary and DG Environment Protection, President All Pakistan Brick Kiln Association Shoaib Niazi and owners of brick kiln attended the meeting. Brick kilns of central Punjab from Jehlum to Okara will be transferred on zigzag technology within four months in first phase.
Brick kilns will be closed for ever that fail to transfer on new technology within stipulated time. It was also decided in the meeting to close 84 new brick kilns that were made on obsolete technology.
These brick kilns will be demolished on failure to transfer on new technology within two months. An agreement will be signed with the brick kiln association for ensuring implementation on decisions.
While addressing the meeting, Provincial Minister for Industries & Trade Mian Aslam Iqbal has said that no brick kiln in the province will be closed as we do not want to increase difficulties of common man by closing brick kilns.
He said that no brick kiln will be allowed to use substandard fuel, strict action will be taken if there comes a complaint.
