Education is the knowledge, skill, and understanding that you get from attending a school, college or university, but it makes us disconsolate that in Pakistan most of the school-age students are out of school; though the number of out-of-school children has reduced from last year’s figure of 24 million to 22.6 million. As a great personality states that, “ Education does not change the world. It changes the people, people world. “But what I think, we are cogitating that education is going to bring change in our country. How sad! The government of Pakistan is shut-eye to enroll out-of-school children into schools.
It is estimated that 44pc children between the ages of five and 16 are still out of school. It is also estimated that 21 percent schools in the country are being run by a single teacher while 14 percent have only one room. And Alif Ailaan had divulged in 2014 -15 that 62 percent students go to government-run-schools and only 21 percent school students get the opportunities of having higher education. Is it not so pathetic? For the betterment of our nation, we, all the citizens, should come forward and play our role to bring the school age children into schools and make them able to read and know their rights and responsibilities.
