BISP transforming women: Marvi

Khushab—Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Marvi Memon has said the government is committed to provide education and improve living standard of women through various BISP schemes. During a visit to Waseela-e-Haq Registration Center here on Thursday, the chairperson said she was visiting Khushab on the directions of Prime Minister Mu-hammad Nawaz Sharif.
She said the BISP data was being used for various schemes, including Khidmat card, health card, stipend for women, while poor segment of society was availing this opportunity. She said around 200,000 children would be en-rolled through a special enrollment drive under “ Waseela-e-Taleem Programme” adding that 10,000 children out of 16,000 had al-ready been enrolled in the district, Khushab. The government was committed to educate the youth and children of the country which was the only way forward for the best generation, adding that the PML-N government was making all possible efforts to provide relief to the poor, she said.
The BISP would enroll over two million children in schools by the end of this year while 5.2 million beneficiaries women were getting Rs 4,700 in three months and a stipend of Rs 250 per child for sending him to school, she added.
She said a target of 1.3 million children had been set for enrollment in schools by the end of this month and urged the women to participate in various BISP schemes besides contributing in society. She said E-Commerce programme had also been initiated for financial empowerment of BISP beneficiaries and through the system products of beneficiaries would be available online which would also be recognized internationally, the chairperson said.
Marvi Memon said a new computerized survey was being conducted across the country for more transparency in the BISP cards after which an enrollment of deserving women will be more authentic. Later, she attended a workers convention at the PML-N Secretariat Johar Abad where Senator Dr Ghous Muhammad Niazi, MNA Malik Shakir Bashir Awan and other office bearers of the party were also present.—APP
