Bid to smuggle cell phones foiled; accused held

The Capital City Police (CCP) Peshawar foiled a bid to smuggle 600 non-custom paid cell phones, arrested smuggler and impounded a vehicle here on Thursday.
On a tip-off, the CCP Peshawar headed by ASP Hayatabad Najam ul Husnain started snap checking of vehicles at Karkhano check post.
The police stopped a suspected pickup coming from district Khyber and during search of vehicle, 600 non-custom paid cell phones were recovered.
The police impounded the vehicle with recovered cell phones of different companied worth hundreds of thousands rupees and arrested the smuggler.
The non-custom paid cell phones were paying transported to Peshawar from where they were to be smuggled across the country.
The police after registering a case against the detainee have started an investigation.
