Indian pacer Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, who won Man of the Match award on Monday brought India close to the victory is “most likely to miss” the next Test commencing in Nagpur on 24th November.
This was revealed by his sister Rekha.
Speaking exclusively over her mobile from Meerut minutes after the Eden Gardens draw, she said, “how can he play the second Test ? He is scheduled to get married here (Meerut) on 23rd November ?”.
When brought to her notice that there are instances of cricketers having chosen to play the match immediately after the marriage and the most recent instance being of Sri Lankan Akila Dananjaya, who skipped his honeymoon and came to play the second ODI against India in last August, the sister said, “the reception for the couple is held in our village Luharli (near Gulaothi in Bulandshahr) and hence he may have to miss the Nagpur Test”.
“It is not known whether he has sought BCCI permission to skip the second Test but I am sure he would speak to the authorities as he is arriving in Meerut on Tuesday”.
“Members of Team India won’t be able to attend the wedding on 23rd but we have arranged a reception in Delhi (Hotel Taj) in the first week of December and both teams-India and Sri Lanka-are invited”, Bhuvi’s father, Kiran Pal Singh said.
Regarding the MoM award performance, the sister said, “it is unfortunate that we could not win the Test but we are satisfied with his bowling and MoM winning knock in this Test.
