The police have arrested a Union Council Chairman over corruption charges. The Ant-Corruption Establishment (ACE) authorities said on Saturday that a complainant Shahvaiz of Kot Raja in Tehsil Bhera stated in his application to ACE Director Asim Raza that Bhera UC Chairman Chaudhry Muhammad Saleem received Rs 250,000 bribe money from him. He alleged that he had already paid Rs 80,000 to the UC chairman. Assistant Director Investigation Khurram Anwar, along with Judicial Magistrate Ikramullah, conducted a raid and arrested the accused chairman. The raid party also recovered the bribe money.
In another incident, Police have arrested 26 members of Shado Gang and recovered looted valuables and weapons from their possession. Police said on Saturday that on the direction of DPO Sargodha Muhammad Hassan Raza Khan, teams of Saddar, Jhal Chakian, Kirana and Atta Shaheed police stations headed by DSP Circle Akhtar Ali conducted raids at various parts of the different and arrested 26 proclaimed offenders of Shamshad alias Shado Gang.
The gangsters are: Shamshad alias Shado, Omar Hayat, Jahanzeb, Umair, Asif Farooq, Sarfraz, Abdul Razaq, Touseef, Khurram Shahzad, Allah Ditta, Manzoor alias Joori, Muhammad Imran and others. The outlaws involved in heinous crimes like robbery cum murder, decoity, and 19 police encounters cases, were wanted by police. Police recovered a stolen carry van, 1 loader, 4 motorcycles, gold ornaments, cell phones, 25 pistols and Rs 3,694,100 from their possession. Police are investigating.
Police claimed on Saturday to have arrested 16 accused and recovered narcotics and illegal weapons from their possession.—APP
