Capacity building for legislation, parliamentary affairs
Peshawar—British Council will arrange foreign trips for the lawmakers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly to build their capacity in various aspects of legislation and to educate them in parliamentary affairs under an eighteen months comprehensive program.
This was disclosed during a special meeting held with the provincial minister for mineral development and chairperson of the steering committee of KP Assembly for capacity building and abroad trips of provincial assembly members, Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli in the chair at Peshawar. Beside Faiza Inayat program head and Mudasir Hafeez, project manager, British Council, Pakistan, Special secretary provincial assembly Attaullah Khan and other were also present on the occasion.
During the meeting, the delegates of the British Council apprised the chairperson regarding the proposed plan of the organization for capacity building of the parliamentarians. The minister and chairperson was told that under the proposed program, the members of the provincial assembly would be facilitated to observe legislation ,transparency in gov-ernment business, functioning of different committees, legal drafting, needs of law making ,process of accountability and parliamentary affairs. Similarly, they would know the mechanism of communication between government and departments and the skills of establishing bilateral relations etc.
Under the comprehensive program, in the coming eighteen months, the lawmakers will visit abroad in 12 different groups.
