Basant without kite flying celebrated

Most people think that Basant Festival only means of kite flying, but Lok Virsa proved it wrong by organizing a colourful Basant one day celebrations without kite flying at premises of Lok Virsa and entertained the visitors. Executive Director, Dr. Fouzia Saeed talking to APP, she said that Basant festival basically means celebrations on the arrival of spring season, adding that only kite flying is not Basant.
She said that some people only consider kite flying a Basant festival which is wrong.
She said that during a long day celebrations at Lok Virsa, a large number of people attended the Basant songs competition and other fun activities and traditional food stalls.
She said that people love culture and traditions, adding that more such events would be arranged in near future. She said that Lok Virsa has started its preparations for holding ten days popular Lok Mela in the first week of April. Fazal Jutt, a popular folk singer who is son of legend folk singer Ashiq Jutt, when contacted, he said that Basant is the name of celebrations not kite flying.—APP
