Bajaur Sports Festival to be held on April 12: Fayaz

Bajaur—Acting Political Agent of Bajaur Agency Fayaz Khan Sherpao Saturday said that the local administration, in collaboration with directorate sports Fata secretariat will organize Fata Sports Gala at Khar Sports Complex in Bajaur to promote sports activities in the region.
He said this during a press conference here and said that the festival will be held at Bajaur Sports Complex on April 12 that would be inaugurated by Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Iqbal Zafar Jhagra. He said that at least 1000 players from across the Fata would participate in the sports gala, the first such mega event in the history of Bajaur Agency.
He said that different games including a number of traditional and locals would be played in three weeks long festival. He told the local administration is very keen in organizing the Fata Sports Festival in the agency with the aim to involve the local youth as well the entire tribal areas in healthy sports activities. He hoped that the Fata Sports Festival will give a sigh of relief to the traumatize youth of tribal areas to come up and participate. PA Sherpao said that such sports activities in the tribal areas are vital to bring pleasure and enjoyment in the lives of local people especially the youths. To a question, the official said that preparations for the Fata Sports Festival are fully under way and almost arrangements have already been completed. Speaking on the occasion, Agency Sports Officer Fazal Akbar said accommodation foods and travel facility as well as daily allowance would be provided to the players who belonging outside of agency. He said that kits would also be given to all the players.
Reply to a question, the agency Sports officer said that Rs 5 million funds have been allocated by Directorate Sports Fata for the Sports Gala in Bajaur. He said that besides major and famous games, a number of traditional and local games and cultural and music concerts will also be parts of the Festival.—APP
