BA wants increase in PSDP funds

Quetta—The lawmakers passed a resolution during the session of Balochistan Assembly, seeking increase in funds of Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) for Balochistan. Speaker, Ms. Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani presided over the assembly session which held here on Tuesday evening.
Provincial Minister for Education, Abdul Raheem Ziaratwal and Pakistan Muslim League-N, MPA, Ms. Samina Khan tabled the resolution which reads that Balochistan province situated over half of total land area of the entire country but the province is far behind in development in comparison with other federating units.
Although, the incumbent government has strengthened all provincial departments and institutions but unfortunately, due to non-provision of adequate development funds from the federation to Balochistan, the province could not achieve set targets in development sector. The resolution demanded of the provincial government to approach the Center for provision of federal funds for different sectors including water, energy, road and agriculture before the finalization of NFC Award.
Delivering their speeches, the mover, Abdul Raheem Ziaratwal, and Samina Khan, Provincial Minister, Dr. Hamid Achakzai, MPAs including Yasmin Lehri, Nasrullah Khan Zeeray and Manzoor Kakar said that bright future of Pakistan linked with the development of Balochistan as mega development projects including China-Pak Economic Corridor (CPEC) and Gwadar Deep Sea Port were being executed in the province.
They said that Balochistan was also rich in natural resources. They said that the province needed adequate funds from the Center to bring improvement in different sectors including water, energy, road and agriculture. They said that it was responsibility of rulers that Balochistan should not be ignored in the federal PSDP.
The Speaker forwarded the resolution to the house which passed it unanimously. Later, the Minister, Abdul Raheem Ziaratwal moved adjournment motion for promotion of education in the province. Participating in the debate on the motion, Provincial Ministers, Sheikh Jaffar Mandokhel and Nawab Muhammad Khan Shahwani and MPAs including Nasrullah Khan Zeeray, Spozmai Achakzai, Dr. Shama Ishaq, William Barkat and Mir Asim Kurd said that work should be initiated on emergency basis for promotion of education in the province.
They said that all stakeholders should ensure that every child in Balochistan would be enrolled in schools. They also demanded launching of professional training program for capacity building of teachers. The house decided that more debate on the adjournment motion would be carried out during the session to be held on May 20. Later, the house was adjourned till May 20.—APP
