Awareness required to educate masses about Hormonal Imbalance

Mass awareness at the national level was required to educate people about ‘Hormonal Imbalance problems’ called polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), as it leads to many complications including obesity, diabetes, infertility, Hair loss and abnormal hair growth on face.
Talking to media, Medical expert Dr Zaman Sheikh Monday said, hormonal imbalance means that you have too much or too little of a certain hormone and every slight change that happens can cause serious effects on your body. There is a wide range of symptoms that can trigger and signal female hormone imbalance. Hormonal imbalance symptoms depend on which hormones or glands are not working properly, he explained. There are several hormones involved in hair lose, It is normal to lose some hair every day but, when you’re started to lose a lot of hair that’s a warning sign.
You want to figure out why this is happening because you don’t want to end up with the excess hair loss, he added. Dr Zaman Sheikh said that Hormone imbalances that has emerged as a true epidemic can be termed as a vicious cycle that can rob you of your energy, vitality, life and lifestyle and unless properly diagnosed and evaluated, proper recovery from the health hazard the hormone imbalance causes is very difficult to achieve. Almost 40 to 50% adults, mostly women, remain undiagnosed till late stages.
Low awareness about the symptoms, not only among people but even doctors are a contributing factor, he added. He said the hormone balance has a much sensitive and complicated role and is responsible for almost all functions in the human body.
He said there are a total of nine glands forming hormonal system. It is worth mentioning here that human body contains as many as nine ductless glands and five ducted glands, depending on gender and physiology. These 14 major glands are essential for conducting a wide range of key biological processes in the human body.
He explained that hormone imbalance plays detrimental role in devastating human health particularly among patients suffering from diabetes. It is observed that most of the diabetics die of heart problems because of an imbalance of hormones that disturbs blood pressure and cholesterol levels, he added.
He said hormonal imbalance may cause infertility as in most cases of infertility, thyroid, pituitary and testes glands are found to be responsible for hormone imbalance.
Medical expert further discussed the role of hormone imbalance in cases of obesity saying if hormone imbalance is diagnosed in time and is recovered, obesity can be controlled and a number of complications can be avoided.
