ATH’ A&ED to provide free treatment facilities

Abbottabad—Accident & Emergency Department (A&ED) with 22 beds has been established in Ayub Teaching Hospital (ATH) here in which lives saving equipment were provided beside free medicines, laboratory, emergency operation theater and above all round-the-clock availability of doctors.
This was told by Acting Medical Director Ayub Medical Institute Professor Dr.Saleem Afzal during briefing to newsmen at his office on Monday. Chairman Board of Governor (BoG) Javed Panni & Acting Hospital Director Major (R) Siddique-ur-Rehman were also present at the occasion.
Dr Saleem Afzal said that in Ist phase treatment room and observation ward were upgraded and nursing station with 22-bedded facility were created along with pharmacy to provide free medicines. He told that lives saving equipment were installed in emergency department including ECG, X rays and Ultrasound facilities where referral system abolished and introduced new mechanism according to international protocols.
He told that all the wards of the hospital were linked with emergency department through mobile hotlines where concerned doctors will visit & check the patients within prescribed time for which Standing Operating Procedure (SOP) were developed. He informed that Doctors Rota for one month has been made which was also displayed at the website of the institution. In second phase waiting rooms of patients and other infrastructure would be developed.
