An anti-terrorism court on Saturday allowed PPP leader Dr Asim Hussain to travel abroad for medical treatment for a period of two weeks.
The court directed Dr Asim to submit Rs2 million as security and return to the country within 14 days.
Earlier, the PPP leader’s petition said that a medical board had recommended him to undergo a spinal surgery abroad.
Dr Asim, a close aid of former president Asif Ali Zardari, was released on March 31 from a sub-jail setup at the Jinnah hospital. He spent over 19 months in custody.
Meanwhile, Dr. Asim filed a review appeal to Sindh High Court to return his passport so that he may fly abroad.
Dr. Asim appealed to the court that his medical board proposed him to go abroad for medical treatment.
A couple of days ago, Dr. Asim had filed a petition seeking exclusion of his name from the Exit Control List on medical grounds.
The former petroleum minister has nominated Federal Interior Ministry, Sindh Home Ministry, National Accountability Bureau and Inspector General Sindh A.D. Khowaja in the petition filed in the Sindh High Court.
In the petition, he stated that it is necessary for him to travel to London for treatment. He stated that NAB had suggested Interior Ministry to include his name in the list on 24th November 2015.
