Army Chief confirms death sentences of 13 terrorists

Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Bajwa on Friday confirmed the death sentence awarded to 13 hardcore terrorists, who were involved in heinous offences related to terrorism, and killing of innocent civilians, officials of law-enforcement agencies and the armed forces.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the terrorists planned and executed attacks at Bacha Khan University Charsada, Parade Lane Mosque Rawalpindi, Marriot Hotel Islamabad, office of the NGO World Vision at Mansehra and educational institutions at Nawagai in Buner.
“On the whole, they were involved in killing 325 persons and causing injuries to 366 others,” the ISPR statement said, adding that explosives and fire-arms were also recovered from them. These convicts who belonged to proscribed outfits, were also tried by military courts.
Wahid Ali, Akbar Ali, Muhammad Riaz and Noor Ullah were involved in attack at Bacha Khan University on January 20 this year, which had resulted in the death of 17 civilians and injuries to 19 others.
They were also found in possession of fire arms and explosives. These convicts had confessed their offences before the magistrate and the trial court.
