Appointment of PPSC Chairman

It is irony that since the completion of tenure of Lt. General Sajjad Akram as Chairman of Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) on 24-09-2017, Government of Punjab has not yet appointed next Chairman, thus leaving candidates in a state of disarray. As advertisements of upcoming jobs and announcements of written and final results of past jobs are pending that can’t be advertised and announced without consent of Chairman, it shows that PPSC is rather in a dysfunctional state, testing patience of candidates waiting for advertisements of next jobs as well as announcements of results of past jobs.
PPSC has built the norm of conducting Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) on December of every year since 2014, non-appointment of Chairman makes situation uncertain that whether PPSC will conduct it this year or not. As Government of Punjab has proscribed further recruitment process, Chairman is the only person who can give final verdict as to whether it is applicable on this CCE. However, situation gets uncertain when media has aired news that Punjab government has uplifted the ban, allowing the institutions to initiate recruitment process, but PPSC has not received any letter regarding this. I call on Punjab government to expedite the process of appointing Chairman so that aspirants may get aware of the situation.
