Anti-polio drive begins in city

Karachi—Commissioner of Karachi, Syed Asif Haider Shah inaugurated polio vaccination campaign by administering polio drops to children, at Maternity hospital in P.I.B. colony.
The anti-polio drive in city will continue till April 21, said a press release issued here on Monday. Around 23,600 children would be administered polio drops, and six thousand teams have been formed for the purpose, in different areas of the metropolis.
Talking to media on the occasion, Commissioner Karachi Syed Asif Haider Shah said that all out efforts have been taken to ensure elimination of polio from Karachi. He said huge decline has been noticed in the cases of refusals to polio vaccination.
He appealed the parents to cooperate with the government in anti-polio drive. The Commissioner added that the help of scholars and religious leaders have been taken for bringing awareness among masses about polio vaccination.
Asif further informed that helpline 1299 have also been established in the Commissioner’s office.—APP
