Medical Suprintendent Government Shahbaz Sharif district hospital Dr Zahid Akhtar said that 847,805 kids of under five years of age would be administered anti-polio drops during an anti polio campaign from September 18 to 22.
Addressing a meeting to review arrangements made for the anti-polio campaign here on Saturday, Dr Zahid Akhtar said that eradication of polio was top priority and all possible resources were being utilized for this purpose. He said that four polio cases have been registered across country in 2017 out of which one from Punjab district Lodhran. He said that during campaign 847805 kids of under five years of age would be administered anti-polio drops.
Dr Zahid added that 1794 mobile teams have been formed while 2133 teams of health department would participate in door to door campaign. He said that presence of polio teams would be ensured at all hospitals, dispensaries, bus stands, railway stations and other public places.
A three-day anti-polio campaign had been inaugurated in the district. MNA Sh Muhammad Akram, Chairman District Council Babar Khan Sian and MPA Muhammad Khan formally inaugurated the campaign by administering drops to children at the DHQ Hospital on Saturday.
As many as 514,214 children will be administered anti-polio drops during a three day drive to be commenced from September 18 in Khanewal. According to an official, Chairman District Council Engineer Muhammad Raza Sargana inaugurated the campaign on Saturday.—APP
