The four-day anti-polio campaign to vaccinate 110,256 children up to the age of 5 against polio in Hangu and 127,000 children in Swabi has started on Monday, District Supervisor Abdur Rehman informed. He said that 397 mobiles, 27 transit and eight roaming teams have been constituted for the success of the anti-polio drive in the district. Similarly, 44 fixed points have been established across the district. Officials of the District Administration and representatives of the WHO would monitor performance of the polio workers.
The polio teams have been provided proper security to avoid the possibility of any untoward incident during campaign. In Swabi, the campaign has been started in 24 Union Councils and two Afghan Refugees camps where oral drops would be provided to the children.
Meanwhile, incharge Anti Polio drive district Rawalpindi, Ch Muhammad Hussain said that the five-day anti-polio campaign which started in the entire district on August 6 was suspended for one day on Tuesday due to heavy rain showers. Talking to APP, he said as soon as the weather condition returns to normalcy, the campaign would be extended as “We have so far administered polio drops to around 300,000 children, adding the set target to administer drops to 840,000 children would be achieved as the campaign would start again.—APP
