Three days anti polio vaccination campaign will kick off in FATA from Monday under the supervision of agency surgeons and security provided by political agents, commissioners and armed forces. The anti-polio vaccination campaign will continue from Nov 20-22 followed by catch up of missed children. Total of 1040396 children below the age of 5 years will be vaccinated with polio drops by 4384 teams: comprising 3990 mobile teams, 293 fixed teams and 101 transit teams.
During the campaign vitamin A capsules will be administered to address the deficiency of vitamin A among children in FATA. Polio vaccination teams will be administering vitamin A to total of 936356 children from the age of 6 months to 5 years across FATA. EOC Coordinator FATA Muhammad Zubair Khan advised EOC FATA Team to ‘ensure vaccination of all under five years’ old children in FATA with focus on persistently missed and children on the move during anti polio campaign’. He said ‘effective collaboration for the improvement in quality of campaigns, robust oversight of campaign monitoring and accountability are vital to keep zero polio case status of FATA’.
Three-day anti-polio drive will also begin in Balochistan province on Monday. Provincial Coordination Emergency Operation Centre, Syed Faisal Ahmed told that during the drive 2.4 million children up to five year of age, would be administered polio vaccinations.
