Anti-drug awareness walk at FJWU

The Department of Commerce and Law, Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) on Thursday arranged a seminar cum walk in order to create awareness among students under the theme of “Say no to Drugs”.
The speakers enlightened the students about harmfull impact of different types of drugs on human life including Narcotics, Stimulants, Depressants, Cannabis, Inhalants, Steroids and their effects particularly physical and psychological.
The participants of the seminar were informed that there are almost nine million drug addicts in Pakistan. The seminar illuminated the legislations regarding Narcotics in Pakistan including the Control of Narcotics Substances Act 1997, Anti-Narcotics Force Act 1997, as well as the status of intoxicants.
Islam prohibits use of any intoxicants and it is widely agreed fact that drugs are “harraam” in Islam. The participants of the seminar including a large number of students and faculty members later held an awareness walk.
