ANP stages hunger strike against Nawaz govt

Accusing Center of subjecting Pakhtuns to discriminationary treatment the one time close ally of ruling Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and the Central President of Awami National Party (ANP) Asfandyar Wali Khan announced to observe hunger strike today to resent, Nawaz Sharif government’s behavior with particular reference to blockage of Pakhtuns National Identity Cards.
“ANP will be staging a hunger strike from Wednesday (Today) against the federal government for blocking the ID cards of the Pakhtuns.
The ANP chief declared while addressing a public meeting here. Former PPP candidate from PK-4 Kafayatullah Orakzai on this occasion announced joining of the ANP folds. The rally was also addressed by other ANP leaders including former chief minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Haider Khan Hoti, Mian Iftikhar Hussein, Syed Aqil Shah and Haroon Bashir Bailour.
Asfandyar Wali Khan alleged that around 45,0000 ID cards of Pakhtuns have been blocked by the Interior Minister that was uncalled for and unjustified adding it was intriguing that the ID cards of only Pakhtuns have been blocked across the country. Asfandyar said that the ANP parliamentarians would also take part in the hunger strike.
The ANP chief observed that the Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif was not sincere in merger of the FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said that after 18th amendment, all powers related to FATA should be transferred to the province. He demanded of the Federal government to fulfill its promise by merging the FATA with KP before 2018 general elections. He a demanded five per cent share for FATA in NFC award that must be granted without further delay.
The ANP chief also lambasted the “vilification” campaign against the Pakhtuns in Punjab province.
