A suspected case of polio has been detected in village Mohammad Qasim Jat near Kario Ghanwar town in the district.
WHO representatives and health officials in the area confirmed that six-years-old Imran son of Javed Jat has been found suffering from polio. This is the second polio case detected in Badin district within a month.
Earlier, according to WHO officials, Imran’s 11 months old cousin Alamm Khatoon was tested positive a month ago.
According to Emergency Operation Center for polio in Sindh, the total number of the polio cases this year has reached eight, while 60 cases have been reported since 2013. Earlier in November, two girls, one each in Badin and Sujawal districts, were tested positive.
The authorities have already declared the coastal belt as the most sensitive area and started the drive on the emergency basis.
