ANF arrests 34 street peddlers in countrywide drive

Islamabad—Anto-Narcotics Force (ANF) has seized 6.8 tons of narcotics and arrested 34 street peddlers during its ongoing countrywide anti-drug drive while carrying out 25 operations. The seized drugs worth Rs 4.2 billion in international market included 6.8 ton Hashish, 4.28 kg Heroin, 1.48 kg Amphetamine and 2.25 kg Opium.
ANF arrested 34 drug peddlers including a lady and a foreigner and also seized eight vehicles. Director General ANF, Major General Nasir Dilawar Shah has recently announced to crack down against Street Drug Peddlers and Narcotics Dens across the country in view of increasing trend of drug use among the youth.
According to details here on Wednesday, ANF Quetta in a successful intelligence led operation seized 6.682 ton Hashish from District Qilla Abdullah. The drug consignment was concealed at an uninhabited site located in mountainous area of Killi Suleman Khel, Tehsil Gulistan, District Qilla Abdullah.
As per preliminary reports, the drug consignment was intended to be shifted to some safe location situated at coastal area of Balochistan for final dispatch to some unidentified location. In another operation, ANF Quetta arrested three street drug peddlers identified as Habib Ullah, Ahmed Ullah and Aman Ullah, all residents of Quetta and recovered one kg Hashish from their possession.
They were arrested near New Shamsabad Hotel, Bypass Road, Quetta. ANF Rawalpindi arrested a street drug peddler near Car Chowk, Dhoke Chaudrian, Rawalpindi and recovered 1.2 kg Heroin from his personal possession.
In another operation, ANF Rawalpindi arrested a local drug peddler from Dina Bus Stop, Jhelum and recovered 120 grams Hashish from his possession. Yet in another operation, ANF Rawalpindi arrested an accused from Mangla Bypass, near Attock Petrol Pump, Dina and recovered 230 grams Opium from his possession. The accused was involved in local drug peddling.
In fourth operation, ANF Rawalpindi arrested a lady drug peddler along with 600 grams Heroin. She was arrested from Chah Sultan, Rawalpindi. ANF Rawalpindi Airport Team arrested a Nigerian National named Ezugwu Christian Chinedu at Benazir International Airport, Islamabad on suspicion of ingested Heroin filled capsules. During interrogation, the accused confessed of having Heroin filled capsules in his belly. Later on, 1.28 kg Heroin was recovered from Heroin filled capsules. He intended to board for Abuja via Istanbul by Turkish Airline Flight No TK-711.
In sixth operation, ANF Rawalpindi intercepted a Toyota Corolla car near Bagha More, Chak Baili Road, Rawalpindi and recovered 7.5 kg Hashish concealed in secret cavities of the car. Two persons on-board were arrested on the spot. In seventh operation, ANF Rawalpindi recovered 360 grams Heroin from a drug peddler who was arrested while riding on motorcycle in E-11, Islamabad.—APP
