Analysing Indian elections

Dr Muhammad Khan

Elections for the 7th Lok Sabha are being held all over India from April 11, 2019 to May 19, 2019 for election of 543 MPs. During these elections, 900 million Indian citizens are eligible to vote. The counting of votes will be conducted on May 23, 2019 with subsequent declaration of results. Indian Elections for Lok Sabha are generally contested on the basis of enmity with Pakistan. In Indian elections, the political party which propagate maximum against Pakistan, Pakistani institutions, Pakistani Armed Forces and above all the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) stand victorious. In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, BJP under Modi took a lead in its campaigning against Pakistan and Pakistani institutions, thus won the general elections. The election campaign of 2019 has crossed all the limits of defaming Pakistan, its institutions and above all marginalisation and humiliation of Indian Muslims. This all is being done through a well-orchestrated media campaign. For this purpose, there is aco-relation between BJP, RSS, RAW and Indian media. Since defaming Pakistan is the agenda of Indian spying network (RAW), therefore, it suits BJP and its militant wing, the RSS.
The worst part of Indian General Elections-2019 is participation of criminals and convicted people as the candidates for the Lok Sabha seats. One such case is the nomination of Sadhavi Pragya Singh Thakur, an accused of Malegaon blast case-2008, who joined BJP and nominated for Lok Sabha seat from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. BJP has remained undefeatable in Bhopal since 1989 though it has a sizeable Muslim population. By fielding Sadhavi Pragya Singh against a strong Congress candidate, the BJP is hoping for polarisation. Candidature of Sadhavi Pragya Singh Thakur is highly objectionable since she is on bail by the court over 2008 Malegaon bomb blast case. It is worth mentioning that, she was involved in two bombs blasts in Malegaon which killed seven people and injuring over 100 (mainly Muslims). Maharashtra Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) – headed by the then ATS Chief HemantKarkare – had booked Ms Thakur, Lt Col Purohit and several others in the case within months of the incident (Karkare was later killed in false flag operation of Mumbai terror incident on 26 Nov 2008).
Since then, the case was handled by three different agencies, including the CBI and the NIA. The former Chief Minister of IOK has criticised her nomination by saying, “Imagine the anger if I’d field a terror accused. Channels would’ve gone berserk by now trending a Mehbooba terrorist Hashtag!” Indian NIA is also seemed to be a party to RSS, since it accuse and target the Muslims especially the Kashmiri Muslims of IOK. Indeed, BJP has started preparing for the elections-2019 in the beginning of 2018. At that time, the chief strategist of BJP Mr Amit Shah has deliberately fanned the feelings of communalism in the Indian states having Muslim voters, whereas in other states, Dalit and other lower/schedule caste people were instigated to create an exploitable poll atmosphere to garner max Hindu voters. It is worth mentioning that, in the garb of secularism India has been exploiting the minorities throughout in its history. Through a well-planned strategy, the areas inhabited with people other than Hindu majority were kept backward and deprived of basic facilities of life. The worst among all was the economic deprivation and providing no facilities for the basic education for these poor minority masses. Among Hindu even, the low class Dalit were discriminated alongside the minorities.
Sikhs forming 1.9% of Indian total population have been discriminated and relegated in all sphere of life in Hindu dominated India. In the post 1980s campaign, the Sikhs are looked down and considered as anti-state and anti-India. Today, RSS is directly targeting the Sikh community in India. Christian too are discriminated and humiliated in India. They are also facing the fanatic onslaught of the RSS for conversion into Hinduism. Through a massive campaign against Muslim, the major minority group in India, forming over 15% of total population, Indian Muslim are discriminated, humiliated and forced to convert into Hinduism or else leave India. The New York Times in its Opinion page of August 17, 2017 wrote an article, entitled, “India’s Muslims and the Price of Partition”. The prestigious newspaper mentioned salient of the Indian policies towards Indian Muslims. As per the contents of this article, the Modi’s India demand Muslims that, “They should reconvert to Hinduism” this is a unanimous call from the Hindus, the BJP and its militant wing, the RSS in particular. As per Pew Research Center analysis- 2018, out of 198 countries, India ranked as fourth worst in the world for religious intolerance.
Indian courts and especially Election Commission are freely allowing the criminals of RSS and other Hindu militant organisations to participate in the general elelctions-2019. This is a clear indication that, Indian Lok Sabha will have maximum criminals and convicted people as its members after finalisation of elections 2019. Otherwise, with 8.8 crores members, the BJP has become as the largest party in the world. There has been a rapid increase in the membership of BJP and RSS in last few months, As per Amit Shah, the chief strategist of BJP had targeted BJP membership exceeding 10-crore before elections.
The role of Indian NIA has been supportive to BJP and RSS. Alongside Indian courts, NIA has given clean chits to the criminals of Malegaon, Ajmer Sharif, Samjhota Train, Gujarat massacres and all other incidents, where Muslims were targeted. The role of NIA has been as harassing agency in IOK, since it has been involved in the harassment of Kashmiri leadership, arresting and killings of Kashmiri youth in IOK. Kashmiris have generally boycotted the Indian Lok Sabha election, except those forced to poll. Indian judicial system is totally RSS and Hindu dominated, where declared criminals like Sadhavi Pragya Singh Thakur are roaming freely and even contesting elections whereas innocent Muslims especially Kashmiris are put behind the bar just for asking their UN mandated right of self-determination. With the criminals and convicted people in the Indian Parliament as a result of elelctions-2019, how the international community would view the Indian democracy and secularism.
