Amir not granted UK visa

Islamabad—Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir, who spent time in jail and served a five-year ban for spot-fixing, has not been granted a visa for the upcoming tour of England, a private TV channel reported.
According to sources privy to the Pakistan Cricket Board, Mohammad Amir has not been issued the British visa. “All Pakistanis cricketers excluding Amir, have been granted the visa.
The PCB was waiting for the response of British High Commissioner regarding status of Amir’s visa application, added the source.
The board had requested the visa for Amir, who already toured New Zealand, Bangladesh and India since serving his ban.
Amir was considered one of the most exciting fast bowlers in the world before a 2010 spot-fixing scandal that resulted in bans and jail sentences for him, former test captain Salman Butt and fast bowler Mohammad Asif. The trio were cleared to return to the sport by the International Cricket Council (ICC) last September after serving suspensions.—Agencies
