One of the greatest musicians and a classical and ghazal singer Ustad Amanat Ali Khan was remembered on his 52nd death anniversary on Monday. According to a private news channel, Ustad Amanat Ali Khan was a great Pakistani classical and ghazal singer, from the Patiala gharana. Amanat Ali Khan was born on 1932 in Sham Chaurasi, Hoshiarpur, Punjab. Soon after independence he moved to Pakistan.
His concerts on Radio Lahore became quite popular and he toured South Asia becoming the representative of Patiala gharana in Pakistan. The late 1950s and early 1960s saw the rise of seraphic singer Ustad Amanat Ali Khan. The prestigious Patiala Gharana, the family that sworn to carry on the traditional and classical aura of Hindustani music, saw another immaculate and faultless singer adding more shine, prestige and prosperity to their name.
He was honored with the ‘Pride of Performance’ award by the government of Pakistan in 2009. He stands with great singing icons like Mehdi Hassan and Ahmed Rushdi and left behind hundreds of classical and semi-classical songs for the public to remember him by. Ustad Amanat Ali died at aged 42 years in Lahore on September 18 ,1974.—APP
