All out efforts for peace during Muharram: Soomro

Mirpurkhas—Special Adviser to Chief Minister Sindh for Religious Affairs, Zakat and Ushr, Senator Dr. Abdul Qayyum Soomro, has vowed to maintain peace during Muharrram ul Haram throughout the province.
He said that no one would be allowed to create law and order situation in the area during the holy month of Muharram. He stated this while presiding over a meeting regarding law and order and other necessary arrangements.
Later, talking to media persons here on Tuesday he said that Sindh government was striving to curb extremism and sectarianism and due to coordinated efforts of the government and law enforcing agencies overall situation of law and order has significantly improved.
He said that after operation Zarb-e-Azb and enforcement of the National Action Plan law and order situation had been improved.
The adviser said that district peace committees have been formed to foster religious harmony, preach peace and tolerance and maintain peaceful environment. The committees would continue to work after Muharram to achieve the set goals, he added.
Qayyum Soomro said that Sindh government had appointed him as focal person at provincial level to coordinate in the efforts aimed at maintaining law and order and he may be contacted on phone no. 021-99217343-4.The adviser said he has visited the divisional headquarters to take a view of arrangements in this regard.—APP
