AJK SC declares PSC exam result void

Muzaffarabad—The Supreme Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has declared competitive examination results conducted by Public Service Commission (PSC) for the induction of civil servants as null and void and ordered the PSC to take new examination from the candidates within a month. A full bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Azam Khan issued Friday a short order after concluding the hearing of an appeal filed by a candidate Abdul Baseer Tajwar against the decision of High Court on his writ petition.
The appellant had earlier move a writ petition in the High Court against the PSC and contended that the papers were tempered to induct the favorite candidates of some of the members of the commission.
The High court, during the hearing, appointed an inquiry committee and after getting the report, rejected the allegation of tempering. However, it declared the remarking of the papers as unlawful in its judgement. The apex Court while disposing off an appeal against this Judgment, declared that the marking of one paper of English was poor and PSC conducted remarking, which was unlawful. Therefore, the Court directed the PSC to conduct new paper from the candidates and prepare the result afterward.—APP
