AJK Chief Secretary pledges to develop tourism sector

AJK government is acting upon an integrated plan, as top priority, to encourage maximum investment, by intending local-level entrepreneur, in the tourism sector in the scenic hubs of tourism in Azad Jammu Kashmir. This was revealed by AJK Chief Secretary Mian Wahid Din while visiting the scenic site of ‘Rati Gali’ and other areas in Neelam valley district of AJK on late Sunday.
He was accompanied by senior officials including AJK Secretary Information, Tourism and Information Technology Mrs. Midhat Shahzad, Secretary Local Government Mansoor Qadir Dar, Secretary Forest Syed Zahoor ul Hassan Gilani, Chief Conservator Forest AJK Abdul Rauf Quraishi, Director General Tourism and officials of the Neelam Valley District administration.
The Chief Secretary’s visit to the top mountainous remote area of Neelam valley was aimed at to explore the tourism potential, challenges faced by tourists, observe facilities at the spot besides to address reservations of local population of the forward area close to this side of the line of control. Speaking on this occasion, Mian Waheed ud Din said that the government was bent upon to ameliorate the life style of the local population in various walks of life through creating employment opportunities through encouraging the investment in tourism sector in the picturesque sites in Azad Jammu Kashmir The Chief Secretary directed the top officials of the nation-building institutions to focus for addressing the reservations raised by local population at Rati Gali and adjoining areas.
He said that it was the government top priority to promote entrepreneurship at local level and create employment for local community through tourism so that they can raise their living standards; however the government wants to make sure to preserve natural beauty of tourist spots and will ensure protection of environment.
The land of Rati Gali shall not be allotted on lease. —APP
