Ahmed makes sterling start in Sindh Amateur Golf

Karachi—Youthful Ahmed Baig of Lahore Garrison got off to a sterling start by carding a two-under-par 70 in the opening round of 16th Sindh Amateur Golf Championship here at the Karachi Golf Club on Friday.
Brilliant Baig, who won a brand new car for hole-in-one in DHA Open a few weeks back, made five birdies to emerge a clear leader with two strokes lead in the pack of over 50 golfers.
Fast rising Ahmed demonstrated superb driving, chipping and putting on the greens and fairways of an imposing club.
Zuhaib Asif of Defence Authority Country and Golf Club lying second two strokes behind spiced with five birdies.
Saim Shazli of KGC was placed third despite playing the round of one-under-par 71. He was penalized two strokes for reporting late at the tee.
Former Champions Waseem Rana and Mansoor Teli were placed fourth and fifth respectively.
In the seniors’ category, Col. Mansoor Akram was enjoying the lead in gross and net event. Mansoor an 11-handicapper was leading in gross with total of 75 and 64 in net event. Leader board: 70 – Ahmed Baig (LGGC) 72 – Zuhaib Asif (DHA) 73 – Saim Shazli (KGC) 74.—APP
