Lahore—Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab on Health Kh. Salman Rafique chaired a meeting of Cabinet Committee on Dengue at Civil Secretariat, here on Tuesday.
The meeting reviewed the steps taken by the different departments for dengue control. Secretary Primary & Secondary Health Ali Jan Khan, DG Health Dr. Mukhtar Hussain Syed, Secretaries, Additional Secretaries and senior officers of all the concerned departments and DCO Sheikhupura attended the meeting. Commissioners and DCOs of Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Multan and Faisalabad briefed the meeting regarding indoor and outdoor dengue surveillance in their respective districts through video link.
While addressing the meeting, Kh. Salman Rafique expressed satisfaction over the performance of the departments. He urged upon the officers to continue their anti-dengue activities and put more energy for effective control on dengue in coming season.
The Advisor directed that more concentration should be paid on dengue surveillance in those districts where the dengue larvae was not reporting so that all doubts regarding the presence of larvae could be removed. He directed to continue vigorous anti-dengue surveillance in Sheikhupura, Rawalpindi and Multan.
The officer of Special Branch presented third party evaluation report regarding the performance of various government departments and pointed out some sour points at the operational level. Kh. Salman Rafique directed the concerned departments to take immediate measures to remove the gaps highlighted in the Special Branch report.
