Administrator directs removal of encroachments from University Road

Karachi—KMC Administrator, Laeeq Ahmed has directed to remove all sorts of encroachments alongside main roads and from pavements without any delay. During a visit to the University Road on Monday by bus along with departmental heads of KMC he inspected various areas, said a statement on Monday.
He directed to take immediate action against the establishment of patharas, cabins and other such encroachments including push carts so that the citizens could be provided convenience. He also directed officers concerned to remove all hutments from beneath the hills in block 15 of Gulistan-e-Jauhar without any delay.
The Administrator during his visit went round to Hassan Square, Pehalwan Goth, Safoora Chowk, Al-Azhar Garden, Saadi Town and Gulistan-e-Jauhar during which he reviewed the condition of main roads, foot paths and green belts.
He issued directive for lane marking of the University road and immediate removal of all push carts, patharas and concrete encroachments from around Safoora Chowk.
He said many human lives were lost in a previous unfortunate incident of falling of huge rock in block 15 of Gulistan-e-Jauhar and this could repeat if no immediate action was taken for removal of all hutments from this area.
He was informed that Rs 800 million worth project of reconstruction of the University road from Hassan Square to Pehalwan Goth already submitted to the Sindh Government for approval and work on it would start right after getting the approval.
Ahmed said steps should be taken for rehabilitation and beautification of University road and the central green belt. He also directed to prepare the PC-I for repairing and maintenance of street lights along side Safoora Chowk at University road and from Al Azhar Garden to Kiran Hospital and Saadi Town.—APP
