Punjab Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan Wednesday said that administrative skills were of high importance for the slot of mayorship.
Addressing a press conference, he said that tickets for the candidature of mayorship would be awarded by the party chairman/Prime Minister Imran Khan after assessing the abilities of candidates.
To a question, Aleem said that it should not be taken negatively, if a relative of any person gets ticket.
He said there were many parliamentarians, whose children had good liaison and deep roots among the people.
Today’s younger generation has different mindset, he said and added that feudal system was no more there.
To another query, he said that parliamentarians would carry out campaign for the candidate of mayors in their respective areas as the candidate would be a representative of the party.
Responding to a query, the senior minister said the party was not in favour of any sort of political interference by the political representatives but at the same time, it does not mean that a political representative has no role.
Aleem Khan said that MPA or MNA could identify the problems, adding that writ of the government would be established at all costs.
He said, if union council system would remain and there would be no more delimitation then there would be 274 UCs in the provincial capital. If delimitation would take place then the number of UCs would rise, he maintained. “Such local bodies system will be evolved under which powers will be transferred at lower level”, he added.
