Secretary health pays surprise visit to SGRH

Lahore—Secretary Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Punjab Najam Ahmed Shah paid a surprise visit to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital at 12.30 pm on Saturday. During his visit Deputy Secretary Administration Raja Mansoor was accompanied. Secretary Health suspended the absent Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr. Atif Hanif. During his visit, doctors in Surgical and Urology Outdoor were not available. Secretary Health took strict notice of the absentees and ordered to take disciplinary action against them. Senior doctors of Orthopedic were not available, while no doctor in Urology was available. Dr. Hina Senior Registrar Gyanee was also absent from duty. Nobody was available in X-rays room and patients were waiting for the staff anxiously. Najam Ahmed Shah also visited Orthopedic Ward where the patients were in difficult condition due to out of order air conditioners. During his visit, patients complained against the ECG technician Zahid demanding bribe for test. The overall cleanliness situation was not satisfactory.
On the information of Secretary Health’s visit, Medical Superintendent Dr. Nauman Matloob also reached in OPD. Najam Ahmed Shah took serious notice of out of order air conditioners and immediately ordered to transfer Dr. Khalid Bin Aslam, DMS Repairs & Maintenance to DHQ Teaching Hospital Dera Ghazi Khan on administrative grounds. Najam Ahmed Shah also appreciated and gave ‘shahbash’ to the doctors present in the Medical Outdoor. He asked the Medical Superintendent that if these doctors can perform their duties till their duty hours why absent doctors could not observe OPD office hours till 2.00 pm?
Secretary Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Punjab Najam Ahmed Shah has also called explanation of the Medical Superintendent to clarify his position about lose administrative control. The Medical Superintendent has been asked to furnish reply within three days, in case unsatisfactory reply, proceedings under PEEDA Act 2006 will be initiated against him.
