Aakhari Raat play staged

On the fifth day of “Sindh theater festival” Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi staged a play with the name of “Aakhari Raat” (Last Night).
The play was written by Mumtaz Mirza and directed by Shah Jahan Narejo. The play was staged and performed at Arts Council Auditorium. The drama was the part of on-going Sindh Theater Festival by Arts Council of Karachi with the collaboration of Sindh Culture Department.
The hall of the Arts Council was filled with people. This play “Aakhari Raat” was an attempt to bridge the modern with the ancient Sindhi Harappa civilization. When a young researcher reaches Mohanjo Doro to find out something for his research he encounters with the ancient people and their lords.
In other terms, he manages to reach thousand years back in the real time without a time machine. Although the play has it historical and traditional background by including the ardent desire of modern man it had satire to amuse people as well and that was the most important thing people in the hall appreciated.
The acting of the artists makes it memorable for many people in the Hall.
The on-going Sindh Theater Festival will last till 18 of November that includes 20 Urdu and Sindhi Plays.—INP
