Another case of rape rocks Capital
Islamabad—Federal capital was in a state of shock over assault by a male nurse on a female patient in the country’s premiere health facility, that another case of rape has rocked the city, this time that of a helpless widow by her employer. According to details, a widow in search of a job was allegedly raped by her employer, an influential timber merchant and a blackmailer who has been allegedly recording secret video footages of his female employees.
According to police, a widow has complained to the Sabzi Mandi police that she was allegedly raped by Shafi Khan two weeks back in the area of Sabzi Mandi. He not only subjected her to physical torture but also used secret cameras to record the heinous act and to blackmail her in future.
However, Sabzi Mandi Police instead of using the delaying tactics as police is accustomed to do in our country promptly lodged an FIR on the complaint of the widow. Before police could arrest the alleged rapist he got a pre-arrest bail from the court.
An Additional Sessions Judge of the Islamabad courts will take up the case today (Thursday) to decide the fate of the accused’s pre-arrest bail.
According to the FIR lodged at the Sabzi Mandi Police Station, the complainant’s husband died three years ago. She has four children and has no means of earning and her mother helps her in managing her monthly expenses.
The widow, who is a resident of People’s Colony, Rawalpindi, on March 30, 2016, lodged the FIR against Shafi Khan, who is a resident of Sector F-11, Islamabad. According to the victim, Shafi hails from Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and claims to be a rich man doing business of timber. “After the death of my husband, my family was going through a serious financial crunch and I was left with little option but to leave the house and work to feed my four children,” says she in the FIR.
In the beginning, she worked as housemaid in different houses of the locality earning a small amount of money from her work after seven to eight hours of work daily. According to her, when she felt that the money she had earned after long hours of work was not sufficient for her family as well as for the education of her kids, she thought to try my luck by looking for work in Islamabad to earn more money to feed my children better and give them better education.”
On March 30, 2016, when she arrived at Mandi Morr by a public transport vehicle in the area of Sabzi Mandi Police Station, Islamabad, and started searching for a job in the nearby posh sector she came across a man who introduced himself as Shafi Khan and offered her a lift in his car and promised a job at his home on a suitable salary package. “I accepted his offer to come out of financial crunch and give better life to my small children,” she said.
She said that after covering some distance he stopped his vehicle in front of a plaza, probably in Sector I- 10 and claimed it was his property.
He took her into one of the flats and on pretext of giving her some work subjected her to physical assault. He also recorded the act for blackmailing her. I lodged a complaint with the Sabzi Mandi Police and hope that I would get justice, she said.
A police officer of the Sabzi Mandi when contacted said the case has been lodged and FIR registered. Very soon the entire truth would be unfolded and no one can escape justice, said he.
