A case for Maryam Nawaz

Muhammad Azam Minhas

The Prime Minister of Islamic Republic of Pakistan has recently taken onus of revamping and upgrading the Model Schools of the Capital on his own shoulders. May Allah help him in spreading his vision for the whole country, also! To implement this sacred cause, one needs power (+) money and, he, has already been gifted by Almighty. Ms. Maryam Nawaz, a PML-N leader and illustrious daughter of the hon’ble PM, is playing a pivotal role in implementing this sacred cause at present i.e. Iqra – the first revelation on Muhammad (PBUH). Every citizen sincerely wishes that once this project of national importance is successfully implemented in Islamabad; other generous ones will also join hands in replicating it across the country. And now, scribe intends to draw attention of Ms. Maryam Nawaz towards the genuine case for help. Forty-five year back Margalla Town, Islamabad, was established by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and, is still not decorated with educational neckline. And, do one imagine, this town is hardly 2/3km away from PM’s Secretariat. So, one can say ‘under the shadow of Masjid, but farther from Allah’. With the concerted efforts of a group of elderly educated persons working under the guidelines of Raja Muhammad Yaqub, the Margalla Town Welfare Society (MTWS) allotted two plots for educational set-up: one for Girls College and the other for boys school. Though Girls College is working with a limited staff and funds – many times the Society arranged funds to the collage administration through collection of donation from the residents and friends. Isn’t it shameful for an atomic State, that, its colleges are going-on without a science teacher? The construction of boys school is still not started. With prolonged efforts of the Society some amount was released to CDA by Directorate of Education for construction of school, even, then, the work has not been started. The commitment is delayed every year for the next financial year. The residents are compelled to think, possibilities are there that CDA may not convert the site into residential plotting as it did along with adjoining wall of plot of the school, recently. Because, education did not remain priority number-one, even, in the Ummah. So, cloth for Ghalaf-e-Kaaba is imported, every year, from Italy, prepared by a Christian company at a cost of 22-25m riyal! Though, the Authority has sufficient funds for construction of Open Air Theatre on Shakarparian, Sport Complex, Cricket grounds, Kite flying sites and the likes yet, not for educational set-up for the children of tax payers of this town. On the basis of past experience, the writer is compelled to say, may someone offer donation to CDA for construction of one-wheeling track on this plot. And, the Authority will start it happily and quickly! Ms. Maryam Nawaz and Minister for Capital Administration & Development are requested to intervene in, on the basis of just-cause of education. So, that, CDA may start construction of Secondary School for Boys and Directorate of Education to provide science teacher to Girls college of this town, according to vision of the Government “education for all”.
