7 Iraqi troopers killed in deadly Mosul clashes

Baghdad—At least seven Iraqi troops were killed in clashes with IS militants in the northern city of Mosul late Thursday, according to a local police officer.
Police Captain Hamam Abd al-Halili said that clashes had erupted after army troops tried to retake Mosul’s Tahrir district from IS.“Seven soldiers have been killed within the last 24 hours — including an army captain — and another five injured,” al-Halili said.—Agencies
