66th death anniversary of Shaheed-e-Millat observed


Special prayer arrangements were made at the mausoleum of Quaid e Azam, Muhammad Ali Jinnah here Monday to observe 66th death anniversary of his close comrade and the country’s first Prime Minister, Liaquat Ali Khan.
Shaheed e Millat, Liaquat Ali Khan was shot dead while addressing a public meeting at Rawalpindi on October 16, 1951.
Sailors belonging to Pakistan Navy alongwith personnel of Pakistan Rangers – Sindh and citizens in general largely attended the Quran Khawani (recital of Holy Quran) arranged during early hours of the day.
Mayor of Karachi, Wasim Akhter representing the citizens of Karachi laid a floral wreath and offered fateha at the grave of one of the founders of the country.
His grave located on the premises of Quaid e Azam’s mausoleum, alongwith those of Madr e Millat, Fatima Jinnah, Begum Rana Liaqut Ali Khan, Sardar Abdul Rab Nishtar and former President, Noor ul Amin, was also visited by citizens in general as a mark to pay respect to their martyred leader.—APP
