Justice Dost Muhammad Khan has remarked that “65 percent funding source of terrorists is drugs smuggling and Afghanistan is producing 75 percent of the total production which is alarming”.
Justice Dost Muhammad remarked this while heading a three member bench of the Supreme Court which was hearing an appeal challenging arrest of Waqar Ahmed along with 3kg Charas by Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) in Rawalpindi.
Police chased convict for 120 Kilo Meters from Dena to Rawalpindi but did not informed concerned police station even after arrest of the convicts which created ambiguities in the case, Justice remarked.
Every police station has its jurisdiction and if it would be violated then problems would be created, he added.
Justice Qazi Faez Isa remarked that Director General ANF should be called in the court who would answer these questions, adding that in this case ANF violated its jurisdiction but where there it had jurisdiction doing nothing.
ANF had noting for the prevention of drugs usage in the educational institutions where future of the country getting addict, he added. Subsequently the bench converted five years imprisonment of the convict, awarded by the trail court and high court, into one year due lops in the case and lack of evidence.
