6 BZU students, 3 staffers booked for drug peddling

Police on Wednesday registered First Investigation Report (FIR) against six students and three staffers of Bahauddin Zakariya University for their alleged involvement in pushing drugs in varsity. A spokesperson of police said that the FIR had been lodged in Alpa Police Station and CPO Chaudhry Muhammad Saleem had ordered to apprehend the accused immediately.
He informed that police were raiding to arrest the accused. He stated that the accused were allegedly involved not only using drugs, but also peddling it in the BZU. A university source said that Special Branch had forwarded a report to high-up about drugs peddling in the varsity upon which police had taken action.
According to report, he said, varsity guards, students and other staffers were involved in this business. When contacted, Resident Officer BZU, Dr Muqarrab Akbar said that as the report was shared with university administration, they handed over the required data to the Special Branch. He informed that BZU administration had constituted a committee to investigate into the matter.—APP
